Neighbor in debt problems. How can I help? Her mother died recently and her father only gets 934 per month from his pension. The bills are quite large My neighbor doesn't make enough $$ to help out with the bills. Her father is considering moving back to her home country (Wales) because neither of them can afford to pay it off. Is this advisable? Let's say the father does move, would the daughter be liable for the debts of her mother? What do I tell them? EDIT: Actually, I should point out that they don't want money from me just a point in the right direction. I'm stymied as to where to begin. I've called up financial consultants, etc and couldnt get a straight answer. Also to the fellow who said "get welfare" it isnt easy. Especially in NYC. So much red tape, beaucracy, stress.

What problems can an increasing federal debt create for the country? Can deficits be good for an economy? What problems can an increasing federal debt create for the country? Can deficits be good for an economy?
Do these cases of government debt and budget deficit indicate potential problems for the economy? Does the size of the government's debt and the size of the budget deficit indicate potential problems for the economy in any of these cases? 1. The government's debt is relatively low, but the government is running a large budget deficit as it builds a high-speed rail system to connect the major cities of the nation. 2. The government's debt is relatively high due to a recently ended deficit-financed war, but the government is now running only a small budget deficit. 3. The government's debt is relatively low, but the government is running a budget deficit to finance the interest payments on the debt.
Is it possible to learn about credit cards before its too late (Debt Problems)? Ok, here is the rundown. I am 23 and semi struggling with debt. I got my first credit card when I was 18. The only thing that I knew about it was that I should pay it off as soon as I could. Well I thought I could do that, but it all started to add up. I could get all this credit and I did. I was making the money and was able to pay the minimum payments each month. It seems like I am going no where. I realize now that you have to watch out for the high APRs and the late payment fees. And also realize that I shouldnt buy anything if I dont have the money. All I am trying to say is that people need to understand the importance of credit cards. We need to learn as soon as possilbe so we can avoid this problem with our lower generations and help them out. I think that it would be wise for high schools to set up a program for students to learn more about the importance of credit cards. They arent bad as long as you can pay them off in a reasonable amount of time.
My husband has had problems with debt. is there a way to tell if he applies for a card? We are in serious trouble with my husband using credit cards he never told me about. He has been paying our bills for years. We are trying to get a second mortgage to pay off. I have lost trust because he has not been honest. Is there a way in the future I can check if he applies for credit cards? Do I just need to keep checking his credit?
Anyone else out there feel weighed down by continuous debt problems? I have never had a break, I should not complain as everyone has a story to tell and I am sure that there are many people far worse off than I, but I feel so tired of batteling with debt all the time. Dispite getting in touch with CAB who have been great. it is a never ending story, the story of my life. The thing is I don't have one as every day is just another battle with how can I pay this or that, I never get in front always behind, it takes up so much energy, I have very little for anything else and I am just so tired of it, anyone else feel the same, it may help to know that I am not alone. Also anyone got any good luck stories of how there lives were turned around.
Serious debt problems! I have a really bad debt and my mom wants me to pay for it.....? I have a debt of about $1000 Cdn and my mom thinks i should pay for it. I've tried negotiating with her and family members but I'm told to solve this on my own. It's not because of shopping. Its actually health bills. My problem is I'm unemployed, and now is not the best time to ask my friends because they're stuck in their own financial situations regarding school tuition payments...ok all of us have money and debt issues. I'm in the process of looking for a new job and i haven't landed one yet. I've already cut off my cell phone and i sold a few designer clothes i have for a good offer. I sold some of my stuff inclidong some cds, art, stuffed animals, CD player, etc. I only covered about $250-$300. I'm still about $800 short. I don't want to do anything that breaks the law(shoplifting, robbery, etc.). That's just not me. Someone i've met last yet, an aquaintance, told me her biggest secret into staying out of debt and always having money......she SERIOUSLY DOES PROSTITUTION!! She told me that she doesnt do it often and when she's about to go broke then she does that. She has rent and bills to pay too but her job pays exactly enuff for her to pay for those....she needs money on the side for food, transprotation, tolietries, and heatlth things and thats the reason why she does that...... Now she was telling me she'll willing to pull a few strings for me in order to get out of that....but i have to do prostitution myself, she's willing to help me get customers.....I almost have no other way out.....I'm still waiting for job interviews and acceptances to work but i have to pay for this within a certain period........ So my problem now is choosing to do that. I'm aware of all these infections and stuff that you can get when you have sex...... I don't plan on that forever, i just need enuff to pay for my huge debt and i plan to stop....she's waiting for my 'ok' to go ahead but i still don't know.....
Why do cons blame social problems for the huge debt? Clinton had all the same social programs and left a $10T surplus so how can they claim the debt is the fault of social programs when a democrat president left a surplus? Are cons liars or insane?
If you have unpaid debt from Canada, is that a problem for studying in the US? I have unpaid debt from a Canadian University (which is not my fault, really). I now want to study in the US. Will my debt problem cause me further problems in the US? Normally one country's issues are not dealt by another, but US and Canada are somewhat close in those respects so I can't say.

Mental Health & Debt Problems (UK)? I would appreciate any advice from the UK on this issue please - I experienced a period of mental health problems which caused me to be off work for 6 months and necessitated being under the care of a consultant psychiatrist. During that time my debt problems became acute and I took out a bank loan with the aim of consolidating debt. With hindsight this was not a wise decision and made during a period where I was not thinking straight about issues and has – a year on – only really compounded the problem. I was never sectioned or admitted as an inpatient to hospital so I presume that I was legally competent to enter into a contract (even if it was not the rational thing for me to do!) Basically I want to know whether my mental health can be used a mitigating factor in relation to dealing with what has become a substantial debt problem.
Of all the problems facing the U.S., is the problem of mounting personal debt the greatest threat? Will the party come to an end when foreign investors start to pull out their money from our economy? The subprime lending scare may be just the opening salvo across our bow.

PLEASE HELP! Debt problems you guys are my last resort!!? I am drowning in debt, $4,500 to be exact but for some reason most debt consolidation companies don't take that "small amount" seriously. Well I lost my job about a month and a half ago and have been searching rediculously to find another one. I've never had problems finding a job but then again I am only 19 and haven't had the toughest jobs. Either way, I have no job and i'm almost 90-days past due with all of my 14 credit accounts. They're all cancelled I do not use them anymore and haven't since last year but I obviously cannot make the payments. I am living with my father and off what few things I sell on eBay. I am also a college student. I could also go to school full time which i'd like to do however this load of debt is on my back and I it's like I can't focus on anything else. I've come to my last straw and i've thought of filing bankruptcy. But then it's like, bankruptcy at 19? I think that's a little extreme, but now i've come to the point where I literally have no choice what do I do? Are there any other options besides this? Please anyone with experience!! I am already signed up with two agencies, I have no money!! Another agency isn't going to help! Any other options please i'm desperate!

Is the best way to clear debt is to add it to your mortgage? I owe £20,000 on credit cards. I have felt suicidal, but don't want my problems to become my wife's problems, not fair on her - I just wanna sort this out now. But we do have a nice home, and sunk all our savings to pay a 10% deposit on it two years ago. We have kept up with repayments but times are hard, we are both full time emploted but the savings we had generated from our second income, well that business has dried up. I am talking with Payplan to see if I can sort my debt problems out but wonder if adding the debt to the mortgage is teh answer. If I just had this one bill as opposed to all the card bills I think I would be happier because I feel I would be making progress. I think the snowball effect with credit cards won't work with because the interest on the cards wipes me out. Does anyone think adding the debt to the mortgage is the best idea? Thank you
Debt problems. What options do I have? First off I want to thank you all for taking the time to help me solve this problem. I am a 25 year old college student that is very deep in debt. I was able to make minimum payments on my cards and scrape by pretty much most of my adult life. During May I missed several payments but in June I caught up on all of the late payments. The problem was as I was catching up all of the old payments the new payments were coming in with double the amount due, late fees attached, increased interest and I had no funds to pay these bills. Well after that things just fell apart and I am so far in the hole I do not know how to get out. I contacted a consolidation company and they wanted about 780 dollars a month for the next four years to pay off my debt. I come home with about 1200 dollars and after rent, utilities and my cell phone that brings me over 1200 dollars. I do not know what to do. My minimum payments are through the roof and I cannot figure out a solution to this problem. Thanks

How do I figure out "Cost of Debt" Problems? Here is the problem: Please give me an easy way to work this out and if anyone knows how to enter it in a Business Texas instrumets calculator please tell me how to do that. The Zephyr Corporation is contemplating a new investment to be financed 33% From Debt. The firm could sell new $1000 par value bonds at the net price of $945. The coupon interest rate is 12%, and the bonds would mature in 15 years. If the company is in a 34% tax bracket, what is the after-tax cost of capital to Zephyr for bonds? Please Show me how to set this up and how to do it and what #'s represent: N, I, PV, FV, and payment Thanks Financial Majors Well I played it like this: n=15*2=30 i=6.41/2= 3.205 pv= -945 fv=1000 PMT= 60 cause (1000*12%*.5=60) And the answer would then be its * .5 because we assume all Bonds are Compounded SemiAnually. So it would be 60 right? and then the answer should be 2.11 because 3.205*(1-.34) Right. Im pretty sure I figured it out

Can I solve a debt problem before going to court? After my divorce I ended up with almost all the bills. Some of these ended in collection; now I received a letter stating that I will get sued. I called the agency and told them that I want to start making payments. Do I still have to go to court?
Debt Collector Problem, How Can I get rid of Debt Collectors? Hi 7 years ago I emigrated to America to get away from debt problems after my business went bust, I never went Bankrupt, but the debts were over 50 thousand pounds. I recently returned for a year to visit Family and opened a new bank account at my Parents House, I just got a letter from a Debt collection agency saying that COOP Bank sold them my two thousand pounds debt two years ago and they want me to contact them to arrange repayments on it, two days later another letter said as I had not responded so of their agents was calling to my parents house and I could be taken to court and be made Bankrupt. Is there some limitatioin law that stops them from pusuing old debts over so many years? what shall I do to get rid of them? I have no intention of paying them and I am leaving the UK in 3 months, I just want to get rid of them so my Parents don't get hasslled by the Debt collectors once I have left as there are many other collectors that could surface as a result.
