What is the best method for consumer credit card debt relief? We started a program with "Consumer Credit Counselors" This progarm has us pay the Consumer Credit Counselors, then they pay the credit cards every month. All they do is lower some of the interest rates. They don't negotiate amount owed. The payments are too high for us, so we looked into other alternatives. We found one company that will do it differently for less. They have you pay into an escrow account, and they pay off each credit card individually. They say they negotiate lower balances and interest rates. The payment would be lower and the payoff time cut in half. Does anyone know of any reason we shouldn't do this? Are there any other better ways? WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET CONSUMER DEBT RELIEF with no loans?

Is there debt relief for military credit union loans? Every debt relief company tells me they can't help me because I have credit union loans from military specific companies. The debt relief company cancelled what do I do now? Last may we decided to consolidate our debt and made payments to a debt relief company who would begin negotiations as soon as we paid the finance charges. Do those debt relief agencies really work? I am wondering what peoples experiences are. I have about $25,000 in credit card debt and around $30,000 in student loans. Has anyone tried debt consolidation or debt relief and how did it affect your credit.? I don't know if debt relief would be good for my husband and I or not, we have never been late or missed a payment and we usually DO pay more that the minimum but we have over $20,000 on credit cards and I feel overwhelmed. I feel like we will never have this debt paid off. Also our cards are zero interest so I don't know if we really have any options. We have really good credit so I would hate to do anything to screw that up. Any thoughts would help!

Should countries give debt relief to African nations? After all this is what the singer Bono (from the group U2) wants. Isn't it funny, however, that Bono moves his assets and business out of Ireland, to Holland, specifically to avoid taxes? In other words he wants us, the taxpayers, to forgive our loans to African nations, but doesn't want to do his part. Playing a song at a benefits concert doesn't count since it doesn't hit his pocket book.
