Why do cons blame social problems for the huge debt?

Clinton had all the same social programs and left a $10T surplus so how can they claim the debt is the fault of social programs when a democrat president left a surplus? Are cons liars or insane?

4. There is a reason Clinton was able to amass a surplus. I love how Clinton supporters take credit for the dot com boom that happened during Clinton's presidency. I guess when you have a VP who invented the internet, you can take credit for anything. The fact is, we weren't at war during Clinton's presidency.
5. Clearly the battle to keep the world free from the threat of Islamic Fundamentalism has been the major factor in the huge debt incurred during the Bush Years. These necessary emergency expenditures do not create an abysmal cycle of dependency that will discourage successes and reward the failures of our country. Certainly the Dot Com Internet bubble was the major contributor to the surplusses of the prior years.
6. Clinton did not have a debt surplus, he had a budget surplus and by the way, it was the republican led congress that passed the budget, so clinton had nothing to do with that. As far as social programs, it is not the governments responsibility to pay people to be lazy. It should also not be the governments responsibility to bail out homeowners when the knowingly enter into a mortgage that they cannot pay for. Also, if someone is stupid enough to move into a city below sea level, then the government should not have to bail them out or rebuild their home just because (surprize) it flooded.

8. Clinton raided the Social Security "trust fund" to make it look like there was a surplus. Remember Al Gore and his "lock Box" for social security? That is what he was referring to. There was also some arcane accounting that his Administration did that I wasn't able to understand (I went on the Treasury Department web page at the time), but under the normal method, it wasn't a surplus at all.
9. Wrong ! The economy was already on the fast track down hill when Clinton left office, as a result of a failed NAFTA ! Most social programs drain the economy, just the same as unions loose jobs because of uncompetitiveness !

13. There was no surplus, that money that he called surplus was taken from the Medicare "trust fund" . And, yes socialistic programs are the cause of our debt. If the government only did what it was legally supposed to do, the government would be was in money.

I am a conservative , so I am either a liar or insane, wow which of those should I pick. The facts are in , the Great Society destroyed the family, once upon a time the family was your safety net not the government. The old were cared for by families that valued them, children had two parents and a large extended family . Look at the stats, my kind, married for 20 plus years to the same man, raised all of my children with him and no food stamps,free lunch,or clothing vouchers, we are a dying breed. So take heart ,conservatives like me and my husband who worked two jobs when we had to and always have had some money in savings and costs the government nothing, but have paid taxes, we will be dying off here in the next 20 years and the USA will be full of the kind of people liberals need for their Utopian society, completely reliant on the government for everything. I still have not figured out how they are going to pay for it.
15. The way the cons see it, if it wasn't for social programs then more money could be spent on the programs they would like to spend money on. That would be stuff like the military and cooperate welfare. But because they have to spend money on the less fortunate in their country instead of war and making the rich richer it's everything that they DON'T spend money on that is the blame. Actually the only thing they need to do is take in as much money as they spend like Clinton did. But they refuse to do so. Being the financial and economic wizards they are they have decided to drive the economy into recession and run up the debt. for the good of the few with the rationalization that it will all trickle down to the masses in time. By the time the idiots of America know they have been had, the neo-conservatives who have always blamed liberals and their social programs that have been backed by a balance budget would have already destroyed America for their own greed.

17. Hmmmmmmmm, Clinton left a nearly 6 trillion dollar National Debt. The National Debt increased 39% while Clinton was President. You need to hit the books and internet somemore.
