help my kid with debt problems?

my son recently signed up for paypal, which i thought and now know its over 18 only, but nevertheless he sold phones and sent them. the buyer said he never got them. so my son was burnt over $3000... Now paypal have turned it over to a collection agency and he is paying the debt off even though he's 16?? Need your help on what i can do?? is that legal? he won some phones that he didnt need, so he sold them..

1. Why did you let him get into that business.......3K.........he got SCAMMED..........you need protect your son's interest.......expensive learning experience........he's only 16 and got tangled up with sharks..........sorry........
2. thats WHY you NEVER mail anything on eBay without delivery confirmation - if he had done that simple thing - he wouldn't have had to refund anyone & you wouldn' t be in this mess

4. Has he tried to trace the delivery by whatever method he used? Even regular mail can sometimes be traced.
5. I heard stories about ebay , etccc Thats why I dont get myself in that situation , selling things . you've crooks all over the place. they aren't trustworthy .
