Debt Problems

Neighbor in debt problems. How can I help?

Her mother died recently and her father only gets 934 per month from his pension. The bills are quite large My neighbor doesn't make enough $$ to help out with the bills. Her father is considering moving back to her home country (Wales) because neither of them can afford to pay it off. Is this advisable? Let's say the father does move, would the daughter be liable for the debts of her mother? What do I tell them? EDIT: Actually, I should point out that they don't want money from me just a point in the right direction. I'm stymied as to where to begin. I've called up financial consultants, etc and couldnt get a straight answer. Also to the fellow who said "get welfare" it isnt easy. Especially in NYC. So much red tape, beaucracy, stress.

  1. go to a welfare department to seek help. Dun ever get yourself involve in money problems....
  2. Never involve yourself in other people's financial problems. It is great that you are concerned for these people, but wash your hands of it. It will only lead you into trouble.
  3. To answer your question, no, the daughter would not be liable for her mother's debts. Some options for her to consider are: 1. Calling their debtors and explaining the situation. 2. Looking into bankruptcy. 3. Moving out of the country. Good luck.
